Jeanne T. Leroy is an interdisciplinary artist, author, and art therapist whose practice traverses visual art, scientific curiosity, and human creativity. With a Master’s degree in philosophy alongside academic training in the fine arts, her intellectual and artistic background shapes her aesthetic vocabulary and ongoing exploration of perception, identity, and the nature of existence. Working across mixed media and unconventional materials, she creates compositions grounded in tactile awareness, moving freely between abstraction and figuration, the visible and the invisible. Leroy’s work combines bold textures, contrasting colour, and organic as well as artificial forms, reflecting an experimental and transformative approach to material and image. Her recent series, Microscopic Expressionism, is particularly drawn to biomorphic structures, translating normally unseen worlds into imagery that oscillates between the biological, the imagined, and the cosmic.

Of German-Croatian origin, now based in Spain, Leroy works across languages, cultures, and borders, bringing a fluid, cosmopolitan perspective to a practice shaped by investigation, play, and transformation. Alongside her studio work, she is currently writing her fourth book, Art as Human Playground—an exploration of creativity as a fundamental dimension of the mind-body experience. Uniting insights from phenomenology and evolutionary science with clinical intuition, the book reveals how the impulse to create functions as a vital cognitive sandbox: an instinct that evolved not as an elite luxury, but as an essential tool for making sense of being human.
